Coding Resource Coordinator

Overview Reporting to the Revenue Cycle Director, the Coding Resource Coordinator is responsible for performing prospective coding audits, including review of the quality of medical record and billing documentation relating to inpatient and outpatient professional fee charges. Based upon findings, prepares training materials and conducts one-on-one and/or group training around accurate diagnosis and procedural coding to coders, billers, providers and any other staff involved in coding activities. This position will also include supervisory responsibilities. Additional duties include serving as a resource to all personnel involved in any aspect of coding to obtain information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements. REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION EDUCATION: Associates degree or the equivalent in education and work experience. EXPERIENCE: -Five years coding experience in ambulatory care environment. -Minimum of 2 years of management or supervisory experience. -Current working knowledge of CPT, ICD9 and HCPCS coding and other coding related regulatory standards requirements. -Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook. CERTIFICATIONS: -Certified Professional Coder(CPC) is required. ANALYTICAL/CUSTOMER SERVICES SKILLS: -Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and knowledge of adult learning principles. -Ability to present complex data in easily understandable format within a group or one-on-one environment. -Strong organizational skills, customer service skills and attention to detail. -Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment. -Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, managers and other members of the health care team. -Ability to direct and facilitate work and process improvement team activities. -Good prioritization and decision-making skills. -Able to independently conduct regulatory and coding clinic guidance research and follow-through with education of coding staff. -Demonstrated management and leadership skills.
